Red Ribbon Club,  Fazl Ali College (FAC), in collaboration with Young Women Christian Association (YWCA), DAPCU,  TI-NGOs and NMP+ organized the International AIDS candlelight memorial service at FAC Campus on the theme 'We Remember,  We Take Action, We live Beyond HIV.'

Dr  Supongmeren, Senior Specilaist  IMDH, in his brief speech talked about the significance of the day narrating the history behind the memorial service and elaborated on the day's theme.

T Temsu Jamir, member of the  NMP+, community gave his testimony where he stated that there are more than 900 people living in AIDS in Mokokchung alone with 680 active cases. He also said that 248 people have died due to AIDS mainly because  not taking the illness seriously due to self-stigma and self-discrimination.

He also added that no timely and proper care by parents and relatives is also a reason for the death of people with AIDS.

He encouraged the audience to avoid discriminating people living with AIDS and also to further encourage people with AIDS to let out their illness  in the open so that further  contamination is avoided.

The Lighting of the candle was followed by a special prayer by Arenla Ao, YWCA.
