Mokokchung, August 12 (MExN): The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Mokokchung District Branch, extended relief assistance on Wednesday to families affected by recent flooding in Tuli town, where approximately 286 households have been impacted.
Led by IRCS Mokokchung Secretary Dr. S.S. Akaba Longchar and members of the Managing Committee, the team distributed essential relief items directly to the affected families coping with the aftermath of the deluge.
The relief drive was initiated following a request by Tongpang Ozukum, Advisor for Water Resources, Government of Nagaland, who secured relief supplies from the IRCS Headquarters in Kohima to ensure prompt delivery of aid.
The relief distribution included 50 tarpaulins, 60 blankets, 40 hygiene kits, and 20 kitchen sets. Additionally, cash assistance of ₹5,000 alongside contributions from local well-wishers was handed over to the hit households.
The distribution was conducted in the presence of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Dobashis, local church leaders, and members of the Tuli Town Relief Committee.
The IRCS Mokokchung branch expressed its appreciation to Advisor Tongpang Ozukum for his support and intervention in facilitating humanitarian assistance for the district.
