Is there enough concern to improve the standard of educational institutions in Nagaland?

Some of those who voted  YES had this to say:
•    I think there is genuine concern to improve the standard of educational institutions in Nagaland, but both public and the leaders in the government are not sure how to improve and what steps are needed to be taken. It is a fact that everything is in shambles and so one is not sure where to begin.
•    Because the  Nagalim is trying to make a better world with love and respect in todays world of developing as we all have to respect the world of global warming which much be free like nation participating in Olympic in Christian life style not like other nation.
•    Generally there is a lot of hoping and wishing to see that the schools and other educational institutions improve. But there is no road map. The naga attitude of only talking big but not acting on it is causing much problem to all. Also the system of education that we have is quite outdated. For such specialized field, we need the right person for the right job to see that the system improves.

Some of those who voted NO  had this to say:
•    Nagas are unfortunately not aware of true education. Instead it became a hub for individual, families, societies and political parties to take advantage/opportunity.
•    No, standard of education is going from bad to worse. Generally speaking RTE has negative impact on our children, students…no failures anymore. Additional of so called educated unemployed. We have still a long way to go. Quality education is a must to build up a society. At this stage, parents, trained and untrained teachers and students are all failing on their part. The state authority is no better. A person knowing Nagamese can become a govt controller if he has money. If the educated class doesn’t bother for a proper education then what more can we expect.
•    Forget about private institutions but the govt educational institutions especially in eastern Nagaland are very poor in infrastructures and its another no when it comes to concern over educational development in Nagaland.
•    Govt schools never bother about it and private schools yes to an extent by their major concern is to make their uniforms the most fashionable since their school is….umh…umh (don’t want to mention since everyone knows it)
•    Upgrading the standard of teaching is sorely needed. Teachers' training for all teachers for both in private and government schools should be made mandatory.
•    If yes, why do we still have such a pathetic educational system?
•    No there is no sincere academician in nagaland who is really concern to improve the educational institutes. Once appointed in the office, the main concern is only to embezzle the funds meant for the education of students. Maximum of the corruption, illegal appointment, court cases etc are found under the dept of Education, Higher & tech Education only. This only shows that the higher ups or the one who formulates the educational policies in nagaland are not at all committed or sincere in their approach to uplifting the educational standard in the state.
•    A big no…the government of Nagaland have not even a thought of sharpen for the next generation of leaders.
•    Educated unemployed youths should be sent as teachers to the far flung areas to enhance the standard of education. Stipends for short terms should be amply provided by the education department. This will also usher in the much needed EMOTIONAL INTEGRATION among the Naga tribes. Still we remain like a glove of garlic, each(tribe) on its own. Education is the only solution.
• No! there is negligible concern. There is so much to improve in the educational institutions here. Specially we need improvement in our mindset along with the institutional changes. Nagas look for bookish knowledge and targets to become only doctors, engineers, officers. Nagas don’t educate our children in such a way that they become what their heart longs for. Music, sports, ethnic development, private sectors, all these are unopened doors to many nagas, not only to unaware parents but schools too, have the notion that Nagas should all study to become white collarians. For example, if I want to become a classical maestro, I should not be forced to graduate in science, arts or any other stream to get myself admitted to music institution. Rather my musicality should be taken into consideration. Same goes for aspiring sportsmen. But we nagas still lack behind in the notion education.
•    A Big NO! I don’t know where the Nagaland govt is heading towards. The education dept itself is replete with full of scams. When the dept concern is full of problems what can they do for the welfare of the children? And even the two apex student bodies the NSF and ENSF are least bothered about the situation, infact they are more concern towards the political scenario. Teachers, management boards, local bodies like ward/village educational committee, panchayat ….(SMS Text incomplete)
•    Leaders are yet to acknowledge the needs of improving educational institutions for the common people. Yes, for their children, they did work hard to improve the standard of education.

Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:
•    Education starts with you and me. So unless the people themselves start changing and the people themselves act more responsibility, there is not much hope. A lot of changes can come about only when the people themselves assume greater responsibilities to become better people. If a person, who is in the teaching profession were to take more responsibility in imparting quality education, than just imagine, how things would be.
•    There is lack of engagement of learners/student. Discussion/open dialogue with them for change and concerns
•    Education is not just class room education. It is much more holistic. The system of the morung should be re-introduced to check the degenerating value system of the Nagas. I believe changes will be there if the concept of morung can be revived.
•    As long as Nagas think of education in terms of degrees and not in terms of development of the human being, I don’t see the Naga public nor its leaders doing anything to improve the standard of educational institutions in Nagaland.
•    There must be collective responsibility. Everything is not the fault of just the government, even the public has a hand in the present state of affairs. The practice of ghost teachers and substitute teachers in proxy is not right. Such practices are the fault of the public not just that of the government. Unless these practices are erased it will be difficult to change anything.
