Dimapur, November 12 (MExN): The Department of English, ICFAI University Nagaland organised a talk on ‘Writing Community Memory’ on November 12 with Dr Veio Pou, an Associate Professor at the University of Delhi.
According to a press release from the University, the talk centred on the idea of archiving memories through writing which entails the importance of preserving identity. He also underscored the idea of “telling stories through writing” as an important aspect of literary discourse that helps and shapes the community, it stated.
The talk was chaired by Kaini Annie Mao, an M Phil scholar from the Department of English; Head of Department Dr Temsurenla Ozukum introduced the speaker while Dr Kevizonuo Kuolie shared her thoughts by critically analyzing Dr Pou’s “Waiting for the Dust to Settle.” Dr Kuolie described the piece as a work of creative imagination balanced with frailties of reality, the release stated.
Mesetsolo-ü Koza of MA 3rd Semester, while asserting her thoughts on literature said that literature nurtures and teaches the weary soul. The students, faculty and audience participated in an interactive Q&A session and the session ended on a keynote to represent cultural ethnicity, individuality and decolonize cultural hegemony, the release stated. Vikele Khatsü of 5th Semester pronounced the vote of thanks, it added.
