Kohima, September 2 (MExN): Freshers at Japfü Christian College (JCC), Kigwema, Kohima, were urged to pursue excellence and embrace responsibility as the institution celebrated its 30th Freshers’ Day on September 2, welcoming the new batch of 2026.
Principal Prof Visakhonü Hibo, in her welcome address, encouraged the students to make the most of their college years and strive for excellence in all their endeavours.
Guest of Honour Vizhoto Hibo (NPS), Commandant, 4 NAP Battalion, Thizama, also urged the freshers to step beyond their comfort zones, acquire skills and explore new opportunities while remaining diligent in their academics and cautious of social vices.
“When you become responsible now, you will be able to lead tomorrow,” he said, stressing that present struggles are part of growth and that future outcomes depend on what is cultivated today.
Speaking on behalf of the alumni, Hosea Khiam, Section Officer, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, encouraged the students to embrace challenges, remain resilient and continue to dream big.
Board of Management Chairman Tuolie Seleyi urged the freshers to uphold excellence, integrity and ambition and pursue their dreams with dedication.
The college also felicitated Ajungla, a Nagaland University PG Sociology gold medallist, along with seven other graduates who cleared their examinations in First Division, recognising their academic achievements and encouraging the new batch.
The programme concluded with a prayer of blessing by Zhavi Kire, Pastor, Kigwema Baptist Church, followed by the college anthem, informed a press release from the JCC.
