JCC reminds govt of its representation

Dimapur, October 29 (MExN): The Joint Coordination Committee (with respect to elections to the Urban Local Bodies) has requested the Government of Nagaland to take up the representation it submitted to the government on March 18, 2017 in the assembly.

It was “In connection with the representation submitted jointly by the JCC to the Chief Minister, Nagaland on 18-03-2017 requesting the government to take up the matter for decision in the previous Assembly Session of Nagaland Legislative Assembly and pass an appropriate bill for revocation dated November 24, 2016 with regard to conduct of ULB election with the same act in the larger interest of the people of Nagaland,” stated the JCC media cell in a press release today.

The press release was given after the JCC held a meeting on October 29. It noted that the matter was “not taken up for discussion during the last Assembly Session despite of being a serious issue confronting the aspiration and wishes of the people of Nagaland.” The JCC appealed to the State Government to “take up the matter on priority and revoke the infamous cabinet resolution dated November 24, 2016, as the same is against the wishes and interest of the people of Nagaland.”

Meanwhile JCC appreciated the August 21 Nagaland State Cabinet for constituting a Review Committee in regard to Nagaland Municipal Act, 2002 with consultation with the Tribal Hohos and stakeholders.
