Asks Lok Sabha MP ‘not to act so clean’
DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 14 (MExN): The Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) today said that the Nagaland CM’s statement that he went ahead with the ULB election after holding 14 consultative meeting “is another trickery to hoodwink the public.” A JCC press note said the government decided to go ahead with the polls “after 14 futile consultations meeting” and termed the CM’s radio address as “hollow rhetoric.”
It also reminded Lok Sabha MP, Neiphiu Rio “not act so clean and try to portray himself as a savior.” The JCC stated: “Nagas are not a fool to not see through this mischievous deed of his to gain political mileage out of the current ULB imbroglio.” It also condemned the MP’s reported appraisal to the interlocutor to the Indo-Naga peace talks, RN Ravi and National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval that the “agitation by NTAC and JCC would hamper the peaces talk.” This, it stated, is “insidious and shows his total lack of concern for the Naga public as we all know the reality is that the people protest against the Chief Minister has nothing to do with the Indo-Naga peace talks.”
It meanwhile termed the Zeliangrong people’s Organization (ZPO) statement suggesting that the current protest is because the CM comes from a backward tribe as “immature.” The JCC reminded the CM is “answerable to all Nagas,” and asserted that he must step down immediately to pave way for normalcy. It further cautioned the Governor that his failure to act would “result in serious catastrophe.”
