JCPI, NEFIP to march against CAB in Kohima today

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 2 (MExN): The Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigrants (JCPI) and North East Forum for Indigenous People (NEFIP) will hold a march against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB) 2016 on October 3 in Kohima.

A press statement issued by media cell, JCPI said the march is a follow up of the decision taken during the 1st NEFIP Central Executive Council meeting held at Kohima to launch a regional protest against the contentious Bill.

Terming it as imperative for the indigenous people of the region to have a common front representing the entire North Eastern Region to voice our collective concern, the press statement said the NEFIP and JCPI strongly opposed the proposed Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, in its present form.

The proposed march against CAB will start from Badminton Stadium, Raj Bhavan Road, Kohima to the official residence of the Chief Minister of Nagaland. The participants have been requested to gather at 9.30 am on October 3, 2019 for a short program and proceed to CM’s residence.
