JD (U) warns of legal action against erring courier service companies

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 2 (MExN): The Janata Dal -United JD(U) Nagaland Unit on Saturday stated that courier services in Nagaland are taking advantage of the ignorance of consumers who go to courier agents’ office to collect their products instead of it being delivered at the doorsteps.

The JDU general secretary, Imsumonbga Pongen in a press statement said in today’s context, almost all courier companies, either private or India Post, charges on the services covering all costs of transportation deliverable till the door steps of the customers using their courier services. Therefore, all consumers of the courier services have the right to have their ordered products delivered at the door steps.

However, it alleged that different courier companies operating in Nagaland are not delivering at the door steps but calling up the customers to come and collect the letters or parcels from the courier offices, which is causing hardships to the consumers.

Taking this into cognizance, the JDU has cautioned those courier companies operating in various parts of the state, especially in the interior areas, to immediately desist from such unscrupulous activities.

The JDU said it shall expose such courier agencies and initiate legal action against such erring courier companies. The JDU also invited consumers to get in touch with the JDU Public Grievances Auditory for any issue relating the denial of services by any courier agencies in Nagaland.
