Dilowjan, March 13 (MExN): A total of 60 members from Self-help groups (SHGs) in Dilowjan, Assam have completed a 45-day skill training programme on jewellery making under Livelihood Enterprise and Development Programme (LEDP) supported by NABARD, Dispur, Assam.
According to a press release received here on Monday, Assisi Centre for Integrated Development (ACID) was the implementing organisation for the programme. A valedictory session was held on March 13 in the presence of Navin Basumatary, Lead District Manager, NABARD Karbi Anglong; Bendang Aier, District Development Manager (DDM); Balipathar AGVB Branch Manager Samar; SHG members; and Assisi centre staff.
During the programme, DDM Bendang Aier encouraged the trainees use the skills they have gained through the training programme and empower themselves. Stating that they can now bring in an additional source of income, he said that the programme implementing organisation, ACID will monitor the trainees from time to time and give necessary guidance and directions.
Aier also encouraged the trainees to indentify agencies that can help them in marketing their products and advised them to ensure good quality products. Further, the DDM said that the members need for ‘credit requirement planner’ which is needed to sustain the group and for proper continuity of the programme, the release stated.
LDM Basumatary exhorted the trainees by encouraging them to take out a little bit of time each day to improve and refine their skills. Stating that the work has just begun, he asked the trainees to work in tandem with ACID and be grateful to the centre for monitoring and supporting them in different fields of learning. He also suggested having an online market for the produced items or the goods.
Meanwhile, Sr Pramila, the Director of the NGO, spoke on the importance of continuing the learnt skill and to enhance their economic stability. If the SHGs still need any up-gradation or monitoring, ACID is ready, she said.
The programme was moderated by Vanbeni Yanthan, Savitri invoked God’s blessings upon the programme and the vote of thanks was proposed by Nithi Kalkho. The trainees were awarded with certificates, the release stated.
