21-year old Jine Singh was crowned Miss Dimapur 2022 at a glittering finale held here this evening at IMC hall.
Organised by the Ethnic Group of Nagaland (EGoN), 15 finalists vied for the prestigious crown this year.
Singh won the crown to a final question that was posed: "What do you think is the biggest problem facing the young people today?"
According to her, the young people today are facing lack of confidence. "Don't look down on yourself. Just because somebody says you cannot do it doesn't mean you can't. Believe in yourself and you can achieve it," Singh said to a huge cheer from the crowd.
In lieu of the usual runner-up titles, this year, EGoN selected five winners, where Choichoi Lhoujem was adjudged as 1st princess, 2nd princess - Visakou, 3rd princess- Hanlunchi and the 4th princess - Apokla Pongen.
Earlier during the event, guest of honour H Haiying congratulated EGoN for giving a platform to the youths through such pageantry events. Haiying who is the Advisor for Prison, Printing & Stationery, Government of Nagaland, stated that when one talks about beauty pageants, many a times, we often get drawn away by the outer beauty and the physical appearances that are visible to the eyes. "And we often overlook the most important essence in a woman - her inner beauty," he said, while adding, "It is rightly said that beauty is not only just about a pretty face, but it is about a pretty heart and a beautiful soul, one that is compassionate and kind."
He said that pageants embodies a woman with additional life skills that can be used in their life to help other lesser fortunate people.
He underlined that the true meaning of 'beauty with a purpose' ought to be in contributing to the society through one’s works for the benefit of the poorer section. He further hoped that the organisers will see to it that certain norms and standards are set to propagate the true essence of a woman in every contestant.
The title winner walked away with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 along with gift hampers and the crown.
The event was hosted by Imli Lee and the judges for the pageant included Toshizen, Lolano Patton, Zhanuo Metha Konyak, Ayangla Toko Longkumer, and Avitoli H Yeptho.
