Mokokchung, January 21 (MExN): The 69th Japukong Students’ Conference (JKM) general conference was successfully held at Satsükba village from January 13 to 15 on the theme, ‘Future Vision’, where more than 500 delegates from twelve villages under the Japukong range and units from different towns attended the conference.
The three day conference at Satsukba, which is located some 50 Kms away from Mokokchung town, was attended by a host of dignitaries, guest, invitees, students’ leaders and others. After a hectic three days conference, the JKM adopted a five-point resolution which aspired for a better future of the Japukong Students’ community.
The JKM resolved that the triennial JKM general conference will restart from Yajang ‘C’ and go on to the next village on rotation basis. It was also resolved that the J.N Aier Trust Award for Academic Excellence will continue till the Platinum Jubilee celebration which will be held at Yajang ‘A’ in the year 2025. The JKM also resolved to set up a Planning Committee for the JKM Platinum Jubilee celebration, the task for which was entrusted to the new team of office bearers. Keeping in mind the importance of information technology in the modern world, the JKM resolved to create and launch an official website at the earliest. Besides, it was also resolved to open groups and pages in different social networking sites for the JKM members to keep in touch and share views and opinions among them.
Moreover, it was also resolved to set up a corpus fund committee, it was resolved that the first seed money would be contributed by each village unit and well-wishers.
During the general conference, a new team of office-bearers was also nominated and accepted by the delegates. The new team would be headed by Rongsenmongba Aier, who retained the presidentship; and Wapang as the general secretary.
The most interesting event was the Mr & Miss Japukong which was won by Nungsangtemsu (Yajang ‘A’) and Imcharenla Jamir (Changdang) as the Mr Japukong and Miss Japukong respectively.
Also in recognition of their achievement, fifteen achievers from the Japukong students who excelled in their educational fields were awarded the JN Aier Trust Award for Academic Excellence; they were awarded certificates and cash awards of Rs 10,000 each. The main speakers at the conference were Dr Sunep Imchen (Dy Chief Veterinary Officer, Mokokchung) and Advocate Supu Jamir from Dimapur.
Executive Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control, Mokokchung, Er J Lanu Longchar inaugurated the games & sports cum cultural events, while the Director, Soil & Water Conservation, Kohima, T Imkongmar Aier was the special guest at the valedictory function.
