Kohima, July 30 (MExN): Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Kohima has been declared as ‘Centre of Excellence,’ an innovative initiative designed to empower young women in the northeastern states of India.
This program is part of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by TATA AIG General Insurance Company Limited.
The Centre of Excellence is a specialized program that offers complimentary tutoring services to select female students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) schools in preparation for engineering and medical entrance examinations.
The program aims to enhance the students' chances of gaining admission to India's leading engineering and medical institutions through competitive entrance exams.
The launching event, which took place on July 28, was virtually graced by Aditya Prakash Singh, Commissioner of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Regional Office, Shillong.
TVS Prakasa Rao, Assistant Commissioner of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Regional Office Shillong and Devang Pandya, Deputy Vice President of CSR and Ethics at TATA AIG also graced the occasion.
Chairman of P.Khel Kohima Village also graced the occasion.
All school principals across JNV Nagaland also joined the programme through online.
In addition to the launch event, the Centre of Excellence's significant contributions to students' lives and its positive impact on the JNV community over the past few years were emphasized.
The advantages of high-quality instruction in grades 11 and 12, as well as the availability of scholarships for students who are accepted into top medical and engineering colleges, were discussed.
The mathematics enrichment foundation program is designed to provide young women with the essential skills and knowledge they need to excel in their academic pursuits, particularly in engineering and medicine.
The program focuses on developing foundational concepts and fostering a love of learning mathematics, ensuring that participants are well-equipped to succeed in their chosen fields.
"We are excited to launch this program, which not only enhances educational opportunities for young women but also contributes to the overall development of our society," said Pandya during the event.
