KOHIMA: Journalists are yet to taste the new policy of press accreditation in the State. It has been reported that the renewal as well as the fresh accreditation has not been made yet.
The Directorate of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) has already issued several application forms. However, to date, issue of the card or renewal has not been possible as the department is yet to receive necessary files from the concerned Secretary.
Recently, the DIPR had asked the editors of all the local dailies to submit the names of journalists for accreditation. Application forms are still available in the Directorate, it is learnt.
Sources told The Morung Express that with the request made by the Committee on Accreditation, three journalists from each newspaper are entitled for accreditation in the State against one from each paper set aside in the new rules. The need to speed up the file in the Secretary level has been strongly felt by the local journalists. The accredited journalists are entitled to free travel in government owned transportation besides other benefits.
