Top Zeliang student’s achievement hailed as a landmark moment

Jalukie, May 11 (MExN): The Jalukie Students’ Union Nagaland (JSUN) hosted a ceremony on Monday at the Conference Hall, Lungda Market Complex, Jalukie Town, to honour successful candidates of the 2025 High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations conducted by the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE).

The highlight of the event was the felicitation of Lungyihangle Nring, who secured the top position in the HSLC examination—marking a historic first for the Zeliang community and a moment of pride for Jalukie.

Pehiato Hingleu, Administrator of Baptist Higher Secondary School Jalukie ‘B’, served as the guest speaker. He lauded the achievements of the students and described Nring’s success as “a testament to hard work, perseverance, and determination.” Hingleu advised students to stay grounded, make wise use of technology, and remain focused on long-term goals with consistent effort.

In her address, Nring dedicated her achievement to everyone who supported her journey. “We must not give up too easily when we’ve only just begun,” she said, calling on fellow students to rise above limitations faced by smaller communities. She urged her peers to turn the expectations of family and community into strength and to approach the future with resilience and purpose.

The program was chaired by Sylvia Hingleu, with JSUN President Agumbe Nring delivering the welcome address. Special items included a song by Peramdibe Mpom, a presentation by Er. Icamceu Nhau, and short speeches by representatives from Jalukie Pumling Youth Organisation, Jalukie Pumling Nko, Jalukie Pumling Mipui Nko, and the Old Jalukie Village Council.

Chiheibe Hiekha delivered a vote of thanks, and the program concluded with a benediction from Rev. Dr. Mongzeung Mpom, Pastor of Jalukie Town Local Baptist Church.
