Jubilee Memorial College, Mokokchung celebrated its 4th annual cultural day at MGHSS, Auditorium, Mokokchung on September 28. The event was graced by Sharingain Longkumer, Deputy Speaker, NLA as the guest of honour.
Under the theme “Homage to Cultural Varietas” the college celebrated its cultural day true to its theme with vibrant and diverse programme. The highlight of the programme was the showcase of traditional and modern ethnic attire, which was a competition between the four houses of the college and Folk synthesis, a group song competition with synthesis of folk and modern tunes.
A Nepali dance was also performed by the BA 1st semester students and a folk song by students of Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung.
The guest of honour in his speech talked about the importance of our culture and belief and said that every culture has a story to tell. Sharingain also shared his personal experience and insights on towards a sustainable water future conference which he attended recently in Bangaluru on behalf of Nagaland state.
He stressed on the water scarcity problem all over the world and said that we can adapt and bring alternatives to scarcity of fossil fuels but we cannot find any alternative to water. He encouraged all stake holders of JMC and the students to work towards sustainable water future.
The 4th annual cultural day programme ended with a cultural feast.
