Kiphire district today joined the global celebration of World Red Cross Day at Agape School with Tsointhe, Hony Secretary IRCS Kiphire launching the Junior Red Cross in the school. All together ten members took the pledge and enrolled as Junior Red Cross members along with two teacher mentors. Speaking at the launching programme, the Hony Secretary IRCS Kiphire highlighted the significance of the day and history of the movement. Sharing on the emblem of the Red Cross, he observed that people are misusing the emblem for personal benefit which is wrong and punishable and said, “We have to create awareness on this.”
On the principal of the IRCS, the Secretary said, “this is a global movement and people all over the globe are celebrating the day remembering the birthday of Sir Henry Dunant who is the father of the Red Cross.”
He welcomed the Junior Red Cross members to the organisation and appealed to the juniors to extend all possible help, not expecting anything in return.
Administrator of the school expressed gratitude to the IRCS and also congratulated the students for becoming part of the biggest global movement. “True treasurer is helping others selflessly and this organization is the nerve centre of it,” he said while calling upon the students to create a ripple effect in one's own capacity for humanity so that the world becomes more humane.
