Justice Lanusungkum Jamir sworn-in as Manipur HC judge

  Dimapur, November 13 (MExN): Justice Lanusungkum Jamir was sworn-in as the Judge of High Court of Manipur. The oath-taking ceremony was administered by the Chief Justice of the High Court, Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar at Chief Justice Court, High Court of Manipur on November 12.   Jamir, 54, was appointed as Judge of HC on November 9. According to a report, he was among seven additional judges of the Gauhati High Court whom the Ministry of Law and Justice (Department of Justice) elevated as Judges in their respective courts as per a notification issued by the ministry’s joint secretary Rajinder Kashyap.   According to Jamir’s profile on the High Court of Manipur’s website, he was transferred as Additional Judge, Manipur High Court on October 9. Prior to that, he was serving as Additional Judge, Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench since January 7, 2015.   Also referred to as LS Jamir, he belongs to Ungma village under Mokokchung District and obtained Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree in the year 1988 from the North Eastern Hill University and later enrolled in the Bar Council of Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur and Tripura in 1989.   Appointed the Additional Senior Government Advocate, Nagaland in November 2000, Jamir was promoted to the Additional Advocate General, Nagaland in March 2009.   He was elevated as Additional Judge of HC on May 22, 2013.   Judges of various session courts, chief judicial magistrate, and members of the High Court Bar Association, BAR council, senior advocates, advocates and other staff of High Court of Manipur also attended the oath taking ceremony.   The other six newly appointed Judges appointed along with Jamir were Justice Manash Ranjan Pathak, Justice Achintya Malla Bujor Barua, Justice Kalyan Rai Surana, Justice Prasanta Kumar Deka, Justice Nelson Sailo and Justice Ajit Borthakur. They took oath of office and secrecy in a function held at the Gauhati High Court premises on Monday.
