KAK condemns Niuland assault

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 3 (MExN): The Kulolau Atoizumi Kuqhakulu (KAK) has placed on record its condemnation of what it described as an unprovoked attack on one of its bona fide members at Niuland on the night of January 29.

In a press statement, the union said its member was attacked at the Niuland petrol pump despite having no role in provoking the incident. “It is an established fact that the victim had no role whatsoever in provoking the incident,” the KAK stated.

According to the union, the petrol pump was closed at the time of the incident, but the accused allegedly “forcibly demanded fuel and, upon refusal, carried out a violent assault, causing serious injuries.”

Describing the incident as a “brutal, and cowardly attack,” the KAK said the act reflected “criminal arrogance, moral depravity, and complete contempt for human dignity and the rule of law.”

The union also took note of the police response following the incident. “The Union takes serious note of the swift and decisive action taken by the Niuland Police in arresting the accused on January 31 and commends their professionalism and commitment to justice,” it stated.

The KAK demanded that the authorities ensure the strictest legal action against those involved. It said it seeks “the strictest possible legal action against the accused, ensuring exemplary punishment to deliver justice to the victim and to deter such heinous acts.”
