KAPO denounces delimitation proposal

Dimapur, March 15 (MExN): The Kuzha Area Public Organisation (KAPO), at an emergency meeting held on March 14 last, unanimously resolved to protest against the draft proposal on delimitation with regards to the 16th Assembly Constituency, Pfutsero.

A press release from the Organisation received here today, stated that the 16th A/C public while supporting the Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) to uphold the status quo of Assembly seats in Phek district of Nagaland also unanimously resolved to observe protest cum bandh in the greater interest of the public.

Giving a brief highlight of the reason for their unanimous decision, the release stated that the proposal for bifurcation is discriminatory and an infringement of the decision of the citizens of the area.

“Pfutsero Town is the land of dreamers and tillers and where as the present proposal for bifurcation is directly in contravention with the decision of its citizens, resulting to discrimination of and suppress of democratic birth right of Pfutsero Assembly Constituency citizens” the release stated.

The release, while highlighting the history of the town, stated that during the British Indian, Pfutsero Town was established with the contribution of each and every village of Pfutsero Area with either cash or kind and its nomenclature is derived from their present Pfutsero Region besides sacrifices for development of all round; spiritual, moral, religion, material, physical, social, economic, education and political, the release asserted.

Standing on those above points, the release stated, that the KAPO unanimously resolvs to strive for their legitimate rights over their land and its resources, without any reservation.

Further the release informed that a meeting has been fixed on March 17 at Pfutsero Town and informed all the concern citizens to attend the meeting positively
