Mon, April 20 (MExN): The Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Bangjum (KBBB) has unanimously adopted a resolution to uphold the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act, 1989, in both letter and spirit.
The resolution was passed during the KBBB Pastors’ Conference held from April 18 to 20 at Lower Tiru. The KBBB, which comprises 121 churches and 22 fellowships, held the three-day conference under the theme “The Amazing Love of God,” according to a press release issued by Executive Secretary Rev L Metjen.
The conference reaffirmed that “even if the Act is lifted or relaxed in other parts of Nagaland, the KBBB will continue to strictly adhere to the commitment made by its pioneers in 1988, viewing it as a binding moral and spiritual responsibility.”
The resolution noted that apex Konyak civil bodies, including the Konyak Union, Konyak Students' Union, and Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong, are in full agreement with the historic decision, underscoring the “collective will of the Konyak community.”
During the Sunday devotional service, ministry licences were conferred upon five candidates — Liya, Manya, Khamba, Nahphong and Pulei.
The conference featured four worship services with messages delivered by Rev Thrangmo, Rev Dr AM Poangba, Rev M Tonlong, and Manya, all centred on the conference theme.
Paper presentations were also delivered by Rev L Metjen on “Christian Stewardship” and Toantao on “Members' Care Ministry.”
On the concluding day, an open discussion was held on the topic “Church Towards Social Issues,” with several pastors sharing insights from their respective ministry contexts.
