KBBB reaffirm stand on NLTP Act

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 13 (MExN): The Konyak Baptist Church Association (KBBB) on Wednesday reaffirmed its stand on the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act, 1989.

A press release issued by KBBB said the Konyak churches along with the Konyak civil organizations will continue to fight tooth and nail to keep the NLTP acts blanketed all over Nagaland.

“The Nagaland Government should not move to lift the NLTP act because of the hue and cry raised by some section of the society; rather the government must put stringent action upon those agencies which do not adhere to the law,” it stated.

Stating that the NLTP Act, for the Nagas, was not just a mere agreement on the paper, but a covenant that was made with God by the churches under Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), the KBBB has appealed the government not to yield to the pressure from any individual or group.

Despite of our limitation, as some always point fingers at the churches and NBCC, we shall continue to strive toward saving souls and shouldering our moral responsibility in the society, it added.
