Mon, March 28 (MExN): The Konyak Baptist Bumeinok BangjCim (KBBB), also known as the Konyak Baptist Church Association, has reiterated its firm stand on the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act, 1989, opposing any alteration to its implementation in Mon district. In a statement issued on March 28, the KBBB stated that Konyak churches and civil society organisations had unanimously resolved to declare Mon district a ‘dry district’ on October 1, 1988. It noted that organisations such as the Konyak Union (KU), Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK), and Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) continue to uphold this historic decision.
The KBBB asserted that any modification to the Act would be considered unlawful and “null and void” within Mon district.
Further, the Association appealed to Konyak community members residing outside Mon district to remain steadfast and not yield to any external pressure on the issue.
