The Kohima District Basketball Association (KDBA) conducted a basketball referee clinic at the basketball court of Mezhür Higher Secondary School, Kohima on July 1.
This one day clinic was aimed to improve the current standards of refereeing and enhance knowledge about the intricacies of basketball in the district and the state as a whole.
The class was conducted by Salew Kadete, MBA in sports Management, HITS Chennai, NSNIS, Patiala (Diploma in shorts coaching) Certified coach, Basketball. KDBA was formed on July 24, 2022 under the aegis of the Nagaland Basketball Association (NBA) to nurture and promote the basketball both in Kohima and Nagaland. Founding member and President Vimhalie Pienyii, in his short speech welcomed the participants to the programme. The attendees will be certified as professional coaches and can be a referee all over India.
Stating that there are many basketball enthusiasts in the state, he said that there is an urgent need for improvement of proper infrastructure and proper indoor stadiums for Basketball players in the state.
