Kohima, May 6 (MExN): Kohima district truck owner and driver’s union (KDTODU) has appeal to the authority concern especially the Minister Transport, Parliamentary Secretary Urban Development and the Superintendent of Police Kohima to consider the time entry route of trucks into Kohima town.
The present system of restricting entry of trucks especially the local trucks to Kohima town from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm is causing a lot of hardship to the trucks especially the local trucks in supplying and transporting essential goods and commodities to and from outside the Kohima town.
KDTODU president Khriesalie üsou and general secretary Rü-ülebei in a press release stated that as the trucks are allowed to enter the Kohima town only after 5:00 pm, transporting of goods to the citizen of Kohima town causes a lot of hardship and losses to the transporters. Engaging a laborer after dark for unloading of the goods becomes impossible as no labourer are found after 5:00 pm resulting in unloading only the following morning and after the unloading is completed the restriction imposed on movement of trucks comes into effect. The helpless owners and drivers are left with no option but to shut the vehicle the whole night incurring great loss.
Therefore, the Union fervently appeals to the authorities concerned to relax the timing of entry into Kohima town or arrange an alternate route to facilitate the trucks to transport the commodities and goods of the people on time without causing traffic congestions.
