A felicitation programme for Kohima District Veteran Football Association (KDVFA) team in winning the 12th Nagaland Inter-District Veteran Football Tournament 2025 took place today at Mhachaki, Kohima.
Speaking at the event, KDVFA President Kevingutuo Sekhose expressed immense pride in the team’s achievement, emphasizing that this was the first time KDVFA had won this prestigious trophy.
Anthony Ngullie, secretary for youth resources and sports, Govt of Nagaland congratulated the KDVFA team on their historic victory.
Wonchio Odyuo, Secretary, Government of Nagaland, also extended his congratulations, encouraging the team to uphold the spirit of unity.
Team coach Roko Angami, who is also the OSD for Youth Resources and Sports, expressed his gratitude and congratulated the players for their outstanding performance in making history for KDVFA.
The tournament, organised by Nagaland Veteran Football Association (NVFA) and hosted by Peren District Veteran Football Association, took place at Mhainamtsi Football Ground, Jalukie.
KDVFA secured victory in the final match by defeating Dimapur District Veteran Football Association 2-0, with goals scored by Neidilhou Keditsu and Imokumdung.
Dr. Tumde Newme, General Secretary of the Tenyimia Union Nagaland, served as the Guest of Honour for the closing function and presented the championship trophy to KDVFA captain Kechangulie Dul.
The tournament was inaugurated by S. Keoshu Yimkhiung, Advisor for Youth Resources &
Sports, Government of Nagaland on February 11 last, in the presence of K. Kire, IPS (Retd.), President of the Nagaland Veteran Football Association (NVFA), along with a host of dignitaries, former players, football enthusiasts, and well-wishers.
