Nagaland Sport Climbing Association (NSCA) participated in the IMF (Indian Mountaineering Foundation) North East Zone Sport Climbing Competition 2022 in memory of Bimal Chandra Goswami at Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship at Lalmati, Guwahati from July 22 to 24 last.

3 climbers from Nagaland including 2 officials of NSCA took part in the 3 days event.

Kehihyulo Khing bagged Gold in Men’s Open-Bouldering and Silver in Men’s Open-Lead climbing, according to Ruokuovikho Chale, executive director for IMF North East India.

Hengouhao, Yierhevitso Vakha and Kehihyulo Khing were the participants from Nagaland among other 98 participants from 7 North eastern states of India.

The winners of IMF North East Zone will be participating at National Level to be held from August 11 to 14 at Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM), Uttarkhashi.

Imnatoshi Pongen (IMF) qualified route setter and Khrieketoulie Kintso (IMF) qualified judge were among other officials from North Eastern State of India. The event was organized by IMF North East Zone, Assam Sport Climbing Association (ASCA) and Assam Mountaineering Association (AMA) in collaboration with Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) in memory of Bimal Chandra Goswami, one of the pioneers to promote Sport Climbing in the North-Eastern Region of India, and a veteran mountaineer of Assam.

The competition consisted of three types-Lead, Speed and Bouldering in three categories i.e. Sub-Junior, Junior & Senior in both Male and Female section.

In this competition, 98 participated from all the states of NER except Mizoram.

A bouldering wall (artificial climbing wall) has been newly constructed for the purpose of the competition in the premises of IIE by Assam Sport Climbing Association with financial support from Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare, Govt. of Assam. This is the first Bouldering Wall in Assam.

Nongdamba Yomnam from Manipur was selected as the Best Climber of the Competition.
