Kevijau colony orgs condemn extortions

Dimapur, August 29 (MExN): The Kevijau Colony Council, Kevijau Women Organisation and Kevijau Youth Organisation have condemned the August 24 incident where a non Naga businessman was picked-up from his shop in the colony and manhandled.

According to a press release from the three organisations, the businessman was taken away in their vehicle to an unknown destination, beaten and robbed of Rs 16,000 which was in his possession. They also alleged that the miscreants further demanded Rs 50,000 by the unknown miscreant in the guise of faction.

Further, on August 28 an unknown miscreant forcefully extorted Rs 1400 from another businessman in the colony.

While condemning the incidents, the three bodies have pledged not to entertain any individual, groups or organisation to collect tax in the colony and expressed their dismay and resentment about the random demand of tax with threat.

“Anybody found indulging in such illegal activities in the Kevijau Colony, it will be at his/her own risk and cost,” they cautioned.
