Kevipodi Sophie kicks off election campaign in 14 Southern Angami AC

The election campaign kick-off programme of Kevipodi Sophie, independent candidate for 14th Southern Angami-1 Assembly Constituency took place today at Jakhama Local Ground.

Earlier, Sophie filed nomination today at Jakhama. Sharing his vision and focus area for February 27 Nagaland polls, Sophie said that he has decided to stand as an Independent candidate.

“I have my own vision. Once the power is given to me by my voters, I will give them back the power and I will give them freedom to choose any schemes or project to be taken up by themselves,” he said.

Stating that the villagers (the voters) know their own needs better, Sophie said he would go by their decision as his theme is, “The People First.” He said that youth empowerment would be one of his focus areas.

 “Today, our youths are the backbone of our society and I want to concentrate on this field,” he said. Stating that everybody is not expected to get a government job today, he said “there are ample chances in different departments where skill development can be imparted to youths and they can also sustain by doing certain entrepreneurship or agriculture sector or tourism industry.”

Sophie also announced to give special attention for the welfare of women and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).

“Once I am elected, my main theme will be ‘People First,’” he reiterated, while assuring to give all his efforts in uplifting the people of the area. He also assured to take up Kezolsa issue and the matter of National Highway in the Southern Angami area.

Avio Tetso, advisor to candidate and former president NDPP Kohima region, Metekhrielie Mejura, advisor to candidate and Vibelie Sale, chief agent also spoke at the programme.

They appealed the voters to help Sophie in the elections and enable him to represent them for all round development.

Jakhama GB Kozhol Kirha shared greetings and the programme was chaired by Neisavoto Zashiimo, campaign director while vote of thanks was proposed by Neichiizo Keyie, convenor, Core Committee.
