Kezhaseluo-o Pienyü today emerged the Champion of 67th Wrestling Meet 2026 of the Northern Angami Sports Association (NASA), held at Khuochiezie (Kohima Local Ground).
Pienyü from Kohima village (Group A) downed Menuosietuo Yiese in final bout to emerge the coveted champion title.
Son of Lt Thepfusanyü Pienyü, 28 years Kezhaseluo-o, (Weighting 135 kg and standing 6’3) has been awarded with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, sponsored by Mengutuo Rio.
2nd position holder Menuosietuo Yiese (28 years), also from Kohima village (Group A), son Lt Khrielatuo Yiese (Weighing 130 kg and 6 feet tall) pocketed a cash prize of Rs 80,000, sponsored by Zakieneituo Zhale.
Thejavizo Merhieso, son of Kevipu-o Merhieso of Nerhema village (Group C) stood 3rd position and received Rs 60,000, sponsored by Kenei Mezhür Sekhose.
Keneisevor Theünuo, son of Chasalhou of Kijümetouma village (Group B) bagged the 4th position and received Rs 40,000, sponsored by Er Sabou Yashü.
The prize money for losing quarter finalists at Rs 20,000, was sponsored by Mhalelhou Mere.
Group A emerged the Group champion and awarded with Rs 50,000, sponsored by NASA.
Earlier, P Bashangmongba Chang, Minister for Housing and Mechanical Engineering, and Neiyalie Angami, Treasurer, Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) graced the meet as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.
NASA president Vizosielie Khoubve delivered presidential address while NASA wrestling Secretary Thepfukhotuo Medom administered oath to 48 wrestlers.
