
Zunheboto, Feb 3 (DIPR): Minister for IPR & Forest, Kheto visited Maromi village on February 2 as part of his official tour. Addressing a meeting, the minister said that laziness is the cause of all failures and that Nagas including the Sumis are losing their identities. He called upon the people to wake up and see what is happening around them.
There is a continual process of change happening every day and so a specific target should be pursued or we will be left behind, the Minister said. He cited an example of a village in Peren district where compulsory plantation 100 orange saplings as target were imposed by the village council.
The Minister also said that assistance for growing fruit yielding by the Department and for this he urged upon the landowners to co-operate with the government. He also said that the people should produce enough which will also serve the purpose of the surrounding areas. The minister donated Rs.1 lakh for construction of marketing shed, and retaining wall in the village.
Speaking at Phishumi village, the minister called upon the people to compete with others in every field, especially in competitive examinations. He also lauded the efforts of Phishumi Welfare Societies of Dimapur and Kohima for its endeavours for the upliftment of socio-economic life of the people.
‘DAN government is for the people and no other Government in Nagaland can compare to our efforts in terms of development’ the Minister said and called upon the people to grab the opportunities provided by the government for enhancing their income source instead of doing away with the money meant for investment and wait for the next sanction for the government. He said that the villagers can preserve bamboo and confluence it with the Bamboo Mission of the Government as a source of income.
The minister concluded his tour at Nakhumi village. The entourage visited Doyang river site and while addressing the gathering the Minister said that the villagers should utilize their land to generate income and advised the people to cultivate pineapple as it suits their land. He further donated Rs. 70,000/- for construction of two public wells, a marketing shed at NH 61 and toilet at church rest house.
