Khiamniungan sports council meet concludes

Noklak, January 17 (MExN): The closing ceremony of the Khiamniungan Sports Council meet was held at public ground, Noklak headquarter on January 17, with Nagaland Advisor for Prisons, Printing & Stationery, H Haiying as special guest.

According to a DIPR report, Advisor Haiying advised the gathering to take sports as a career. Stressing on the need to be disciplined in sports as well in all aspects, he also advised the sportspersons avoid intoxicants and work hard. He appreciated the Khiamniungan Sports Council for organizing the event and for giving opportunities and platforms to the sportspersons in the district, the report stated.

President of the Khiamniungan Tribal Council M Thangou also spoke on the occasion, while President of Badminton Association Noklak P Pukha delivered the welcome address and vote of thanks was delivered by Treasurer KSC L Imkhong. Frolic band of Noklak presented a special song, the DIPR report stated.

As per the report, Thangnokyan Village emerged as the champions in football and Pathso Noking village got the runners-up. In Badminton (men’s doubles), New Pangsha won the first position and Pathso village secured the runners-up, while Pathso village got the first position and Thang Village secured the second position in the women’s doubles.

In Crossbows, the winner was Tangsoi P of Nokhu village; Thangem P of Nokhu Noking village bagged the second position and third position went to Chiming S of Cholangan village.

Further, in the Half Marathon (men) Lemchiu Y Khiam of Sanglao village won the first position, S Pongom of Sanglao Village got second position and T Longkhoi of Thang Village got the third position. For the women’s category, Jumie Y of Sanglao village, Nuchai S Meyo of Sanglao village and S Shongmao Khiamniungan of Sanglao village bagged first, second and third positions respectively.

For Volleyball (men), New Pangsha emerged as winner and Old Pangsha were the runners-up while Choklangan Village was the winner and Kingniu village were the runners-up in the women’s category.

During the sports meet, Khiamniungan Sports Council felicitated Tsuchoi T of Kusong Village, Songmo P of Thangnokyan Village, Niansai T of Thang Village, Muchiu K of Thangnokyan Village and Shangchiu T Khiamniungan of Sanglao village for representing the district at the state and national levels. The certificates were handed over by the Advisor H Haiying, the DIPR report stated.

The sports meet was organised by Khiamniungan Sports Council in collaboration with Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP).
