Khiamniungan Students’ Union wins friendship sports meet in Tuensang

The Khiamniungan Students’ Union Tuensang Town (KSUTT) emerged victorious in the final match of the Friendship Sports Meet, defeating CWS (Chang Wedoshi Setshang) 3-1 in the men’s football final. 

The event, organised by the Chang Wedoshi Setshang (CWS), concluded on May 25 at the Loyem Memorial Astro Turf Ground in Tuensang Town.

The sports meet, held for the officials of the respective students’ unions, began on May 24 and saw participation from eight tribal students’ unions, including CWS, KSUTT, Chang Students’ Union Saksi, Chang Students’ Union Tuensang Town (CSUTT), Tikhir Students’ Union Tuensang Town, Tuensang Village Students’ Union, Yimkhiung Students’ Union Tuensang Town, and Sangtam Students’ Union Tuensang Town.

On the opening day, men’s football matches were held among the eight unions, with CSUTT, CWS, TVSU, and KSUTT advancing through knockout matches. 

The final match on May 25 was set between CWS and KSUTT, with the latter emerging as victors.

In addition to the football matches, a tug-of-war competition for women was held on the morning of the second day. 
CSUTT won the competition while Tuensang Village Students’ Union finished in second place.

The winners of both the football and tug-of-war competitions received trophies and certificates, while the runners-up were awarded certificates.

The football matches were officiated by AIFF D Coach Changsang Ongbou, with Donge Hanglen and BümetSangli Chang assisting.

The closing ceremony featured various tribal organisations, including Chang Khulei Setshang, Tikhir Union Tuensang Town, Khiamniungan Union Tuensang Town, Sangtam Union Tuensang Town, and Yimkhiung Union Tuensang Town. Representatives from the student community of the eight participating tribes were also present.

The event opened with a program chaired by Yangkamba, Assistant Youth Affairs Secretary, CWS. Nasen Hannah, Women Coordinator of CWS, delivered the invocation, followed by a welcome speech from C Pongsu, President of CWS. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks from Hongsayongkong, Youth Affairs Secretary, CWS, and a benediction by Langasomba, Vice President of CWS. The event concluded with a communal feast.
