Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner H.K. Khulu (IAS), inaugurating the new building of Soil & Water Conservation Training & Research at Sechu- Zubza on April 11.
Kohima, April 12 (MExN): The department of soil & water conservation, training & research centre, Sechü Zubza inaugurated its new office building on April 11 with HK Khulu IAS, Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner as the chief guest.
Khulu in his speech applauded the department for being able to impart intensive training on soil and water conservation since its inception. He encouraged the department to further its horizon and pass quality knowledge to the trainees making them as the backbone of the department. He further advised the officers and staff to maintain all possible transparency and accountability in dealing with official matters.
The programme was chaired by L. Yantsowo Lotha, Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Department of Soil & Water Conservation. Invocation was pronounced by Khriengulie Kuotsu, Pastor Sechü Zubza Baptist Church. This was followed by unveiling of the building by the chief guest. Director of Soil and Water Conservation, Nangshi Jamir highlighted the history of the Training Centre. Later, vote of thanks was pronounced by Vengota Nakhro, Joint Director, S&WC. Other dignitaries present included SDO (Civil) Sechü Zubza, Commandant CRPF, Project Coordinator UNDP, Village Council Chairman of Sechuma Village & Sechü Zubza and Medical Officer Sechü Zubza.
It may be mentioned that the department of soil & water conservation, training & research centre, Sechü Zubza was established in the year 1973. It covers an area of 52 acres. Since its inception, the department is imparting training on soil & water conservation aspects to both the in-service and pre- service Soil Conservation Assistants (SCA’s). So far, the training centre has imparted training to SCA’s upto 18th batch.
