KOHIMA (MExN): Nagaland Home Minister Thenucho took time out from his busy schedule to publicly announce the State government’s appreciation on the peaceful resolution over the nomenclature of Kidima, which had lingered without a solution for the last 21 years.
Addressing a press conference at Hotel Japfu after meeting Tenyimia central leaders, the Minister congratulated the Jury Board of the Tenyimia Central Union for peacefully resolving the issue of the nomenclature of Kidima.
Thenucho said that the lesson learned from Kidima should also be emulated in resolving other similar problems prevailing among the Nagas like at Tobu where the people have “known no peace for over a quarter of a century.”
Thenucho called upon all the people of Nagaland to learn from the examples set by this village to live in peaceful co-existence which he said, “would go a long way in fostering the spirit of good will, friendship and brotherhood among the people in the State.”
Thenucho pointed out that there was a lesson here to be learned by all and said Nagas had the strength and the capacity to resolve any forms of problems and settle any kinds of dispute by exercising its traditional wisdom. “We have great strength in our Naga society and the necessary wisdom and values in our culture and tradition”, he said. The Minister said this reservoir of traditional knowledge could greatly enhance governance and bring peace to society. “The age old, time tested Naga customary practices, which are still relevant in our present day situation need not be not only respected and preserved but also put into practice for our common good”, Thenucho said.
