Kidima village lifts 4rd Dzükou Cup

Kidima Youth Organization won the men’s football and retained the 4th Dzükuo Cup after defeating Viswema Village in the finals by scoring 2 goals. 

Nosal Pucho was the highest scorer of tournament (7 goals) and Zapokul Pucho of Kidima was adjudged the best goalKeeper and Kelengol Koso of Viswema was declared Player of the Tournament.

In the women’s football, the team from Kidima village emerged victorious after defeating Mima Village after scoring a solitary goal. 

Visakunu, Medosanu Sachü and Khriekono Rote of Kidima Youth Organisation were the Highest Scorer, Best Goal Keeper and Player of the Tournament respectively.

In Men’s volleyball, Mima Village won against Kigwema Village by deciding sets. Kevizakie Kevin Phira of Kigwema and Menuokholie of Mima we adjudged as Best Setter and Best Spiker respectively.

In women’s volleyball, Kidima Youth Organisation secure a record hold by retaining the SASA trophy for the 7th consecutive time, with the win over Kigwema Youth Organisation by straight sets. Nokethonu Kintso and Visakunu Kintso of Kidima were declared best setter and best Spiker respectively.

Viswema Youth Organisation won the Men’s Sepak Takraw defeating Kigwema Youth Organisation with a straight set. Kevisaho Neikha and Kelengol Toso of Viswema secured Best Setter and Best Spiker respectively while Kikovizo Zhotso of Jakhama Youth Organisation was adjudged the Best Tekon.

Women’s team of Kidima Youth Organisation were declared Champion of the Women’s Sepak Takraw defeating the Viswema Youth Organisation by a straight set. Seyiekhrieno of Kidima, Abeino Neihu of Kigwema and Visetonü Dzüne of Viswema were adjust as Best Setter, Best Spiker and Best Tekon.

Kohima District Football Referee Association officiated the Football events, Kohima District Volleyball Association officiated the Volleyball events while Southern Angami Sepak Takraw Players Association officiated the Sepak Takraw events.

The closing function was chaired by Mhasileto Kaimo and Neilau Thapru presented special song. 

Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Kevithuto Sophie, IPS underscored the need to take sports beyond a yearly edition and see it progress into a profession and sports both at individual and societal level. 

He was addressing the 63rd Southern Angami Sports Association (SASA) closing ceremony at Jakhama Village local ground today.  

He also opined that sport is an integral part of our society and emphazied on the need to let it bring unity and renew friendship among our people. 

Despite observing a dearth in infrastructure for sportspersons in the region to excel in their field, Sophie encouraged enthusiast not to lose passion but continue with the mindset of true sportsperson.

The speaker meanwhile stressed the importance of maintaining physical fitness, keeping a strategy in order to be a good sports person. 

To bring up professional sportsperson in our region, Sophie also held that capable people need to sponsor serious players to prepare them for training. 

In this regard, the speaker also asked the attendance to take it as a challenge and a joint effort to identify good sportsperson. 
Sophie also called the youths to take up different vocation and field adding that degree certificate alone cannot help them lead a life or become someone in society today. 

He asked the youths to identify own skills and talent so as to move ahead in life and further stressed on the need to take up entrepreneurship.
