
Dimapur, October 7 (MExN): Dimapur Police rescued the victim (name withheld) and also arrested the kidnappers on 5th October 2011 from Chekiye village after a well planned out rescue operation was carried out which lasted for more than six hours. The arrested Kidnappers had been identified as Pukhavi Achumi(25) S/o Ghosheto of Shitovi village,Dimapur, Rovito Achumi (25) S/o Yeheshe of Kuhuboto, Kakheto Aye (25) S/o Tokhevi of Litsami village, Hevito Awomi (18) S/o Veheshe Awomi of Shitovi village,David Achumi (26) S/o Qhushevi of Chekiye village, Ghunashe, S/o Qhushevi of Chekiye village.This was stated in a press release issued by the Additional Superintendent of Police, Dimapur.
Acting on the information that a driver-cum –owner of a goods carrying auto was abducted from super market area by some unknown miscreants in a motorcycle, the police swiftly activated all sources and began investigating the case.
The victim along with his companion was transporting some goods to super market when two of the kidnappers in a motor cycle intercepted them. However, the accomplice managed to escape who later informed the police about the abduction. The press note stated that the victim was taken to a location where he was badly assaulted after which the kidnappers forced him to demand a ransom of Rs 70,000 from his family in exchange for his safe release. Calls were made to the victim’s family with the ransom demand from the victim’s mobile.
During the process, Police made a plan and deployed undercover agents in suspected places to apprehend the kidnappers and rescue the victim. Two of the kidnappers were apprehended when they came in a motor cycle and were proceeding towards the decoy agents. On their revelation, police rushed towards the place where the victim was held captive. Four other accused, guarding the victim, were also apprehended by the team. It was stated that the victim who was found with the multiple injuries when rescued from his captors and the vehicle was recovered from the compound of the place where he was held captive. A case of kidnapping for ransom was registered against the accused in this connection and all the accused have been forwarded to court for remand.
In another unrelated incident, another accused Akheto Chishi (37) S/o Yeheshe Chishi, of Lohobo village was arrested by the Dimapur Police on 6th October 2011 after trailing the accused for some months. The accused was absconding in the kidnapping for ransom of two persons in the month of May 2011, working at the private residence of the Chief Minister, Nagaland at Sovima. A case of kidnapping for ransom and under the Arms Act was registered at Diphupar Police station.
