Kikon inaugurates SDPDB conference hall in Bhandari

Bhandari, October 11 (MExN): MLA and Advisor for SCERT and Food Processing, Achumbemo Kikon, inaugurated the newly constructed Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB) conference hall-cum-chairman's office at the Additional Deputy Commissioner's office premises in Bhandari on October 9.

The three-storey building was constructed under the State Plan. Unveiling the inaugural plaque, Kikon expressed gratitude to Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy Chief Minister T R Zeliang for their support towards the construction of the building.

He said the original Detailed Project Report (DPR) did not include strong rooms, but additional arrangements were made to provide secure strong rooms, keeping in view future infrastructural requirements.

Kikon said the 40 A/C Bhandari constituency, with around 27,000 voters, more than 84 polling stations spread across remote areas and nine town council wards, had strong grounds to seek a district election office. He expressed optimism that the people's aspiration would be realised in the near future.

SDPDB meeting discusses healthcare, roads and power supply
The SDPDB meeting, held after the inauguration, was chaired by Kikon, who welcomed the new members and reviewed the agenda.

Expressing concern over the prolonged absence of a Senior Medical Officer (SMO) and the shortage of doctors and nurses at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Bhandari, Kikon urged public leaders to pursue the matter with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Wokha. He also assured them that he would take up the issue with the concerned department.

The meeting also deliberated on the proposed temporary jeepable road from Merapani village to Mekirang village along the Foothill Road alignment.

The Bhandari district administration informed the meeting that an estimate committee had been constituted and entrusted with visiting the proposed stretch and preparing a cost estimate for the work.

President of the Lotha Lower Range Public Organisation (LLRPO), Dr Alex Kithan, acknowledged that Kikon had contributed Rs 1 lakh towards the crowdfunding initiative for the road project. He also requested the MLA to extend support for JCBs and dumper trucks.

The meeting also acknowledged the chairman of Merapani Village Council for committing to donate four large Hume pipes for the proposed construction.

Kikon urged the agencies and departments concerned to improve road conditions along the Foothill Road through proper maintenance.

President of the Yanmhon Area Public Organisation (YAPO), N Thungdemo Tungoe, informed the meeting through an undertaking that a unified resolution had been adopted by the 20 affected villages of the Yanmhon area to cooperate with the department during the upgradation of the power supply line from 11 kV to 33 kV, ensuring unhindered execution of the work.

Kithan further pointed out that Bhandari sub-division had 12 high schools but no college. He urged the house to take up the matter with the authorities concerned to establish a college in the sub-division for the benefit of the younger generation.

Lead Bank Manager of Wokha, Chophathung Yanthan, provided an overview of the operations, deposits and advances of banking institutions in Wokha district.
