Kiphire back ENPO demand

Kiphire | January 31 : GBs and DBs of Kiphire district have expressed strong support to the demand of the Eastern Naga People’s Organization (ENPO) for a separate “frontier Nagaland state” and has banned the existence of what it called is the ‘sovereign republic of free land’ within their jurisdiction.
The Kiphire district GBs and DBs Joint Forum Working Committee (JFWC) had a meeting at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall on Wednesday. More than 300 GBs and DBs attended the meeting.  In the meeting the JFWC conveyed its strong support to the demand of the ENPO for separate “frontier Nagaland state” and has dissociated itself from the ‘sovereign republic of free land.’
The meeting unanimously reaffirmed the five-point resolutions undertaken in 2008. The first resolution stated that fratricidal killings in the name of Naga independence and sovereignty should be completely stopped; that the joint forum working committee has resolved not to allow any individual or group irrespective of faction to move about with uniforms and weapons within Kiphire district; that any cadre found violating this resolution would be “arrested” by the authority or public and action would be taken.
Also, as adopted by the ENPO, the jurisdiction under the ENPO shall remain as a “peace zone” and the joint forum working committee of Kiphire district shall continue to support the peace talks for solution to the Naga political
problem. It was also resolved that any individual or group irrespective of faction found indulging in taxation or any kind of “collection” from any individual, commercial places, institutions and offices shall be seriously dealt with by the JFWC of Kiphire district.
It was reaffirmed that violation to the stated resolutions by any underground faction would mean that the JFWC of Kiphire district and the public of Kiphire “shall be forced to stop extend cooperation in any manner towards that particular faction(s) and may be forced to vacate the jurisdiction of Kiphire district.”
