Pointing out the need to have women welfare agencies in the villages, Kiphire district Deputy commissioner & Vice chairman DPDB Kiphire, Kesonyu Yhome (IAS) said, “as per 2011 census Kiphire has 51% of population consist of men folk and female constitute 49% population however, in all developmental activities women are being neglected. To have gender balance and growth in development, village women welfare agencies should be constituted. ”He was speaking at the Kiphire DPDB meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall chamber with officers and tribal leaders on April 10.
Sharing his concern on use of fund by the VDBs, the Deputy Commissioner said, “90-95% of fund is being sent to VDB for developmental activities but many a time money has been misused. With the formation of women agencies money will be utilized properly.”
Addressing the meeting, Parliamentary Secretary, Consumer Protection & Legal Metrology, Economics and Statistical, & Excise and Chairman DPDB, T. Torechu called upon the DPDB members to take Kiphire as one’s home and give their best in all developmental activities for the welfare of the people in the district. Taking part in the discussion of developmental agendas the chairman said, “publics should be sensitized on various developmental activities so that development is not hampered”.
Er Hozheto Shikhu, EE National Highway during the discussion shared concern of the poor road condition and improper drainage system along the entire stretch of NH 202. He said that ‘until law enforcing agencies and department work together, the problem of drainage cannot be solved. Black toping of road is in the pipeline after a gap of four years. However, quality road cannot be delivered if there is no drain.’
Other agendas discussed during the meeting include registration of societies, development of Zisaji Presidency College and construction of drainage in the town area.
