Dimapur, Jan 19 (MExN): Kiphire District Planning & Development Board has resolved to mobilize relief aid for those citizens of Kiusam HQ affected by the recent communal clash between the Yimchunger and Tikhir communities recently.
This was resolved at the monthly Kiphire DPDB meeting held on January 9 in the official residence of the Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire under the chairmanship of Torechu, MLA and Chairman of Kiphire DPDB.
The board resolved to mobilize a freewill contribution/donation to those affected in the communal clash of Kiusam EAC HQ and accordingly Dr. Tino Chang, EAC HQ, have been entrusted to conduct the mobilization.
The Chairman expressed sadness at the outbreak of communal conflict between the two communities of Tikhir and Yimchungru where Kiusam EAC HQ under Kiphire district became the worst affected of the melee. 19 houses including 5 government buildings were burnt down. However, Torechu expressed happiness that the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police and other administrative officers visited the affected spots and took have taken stock of the situation. Torechu requested the officers to speak to the people of both the communities so as to maintain peace and tranquility among the people. Saying that Kiphire HQ is peaceful, Torechu asked the people to maintain cordial relations to maintain peace and harmony in the district. Appealing to officers and the public in general to generously contribute relief to the affected people, Torechu also asked officers to be in station to attend to the need and requirements of the people especially in the concluding part of the current financial year.
An introduction of new DPDB members such as District TB Officer, SDO (Soil Conservation), BDO, Kiphire Block and the District Planning Officer was also made.
On the agenda, the DC expressed desire to revive and activate the function of IRCS, Kiphire district Branch, and appealed to the Board members to get themselves registered as Red Cross society members. Accordingly, the SDO(C), HQ has been entrusted to name the new IRCS Hon. Secretary and get it activated at the earliest.
Further, in regard to the site allotment for an NST Bus Station at Kiphire has been entrusted to the Kiphire Town Council and the Assistant Town Planner and a report in the next meeting is to be submitted. Deliberation on up-gradation of GMS Purur, review of the Verification Team members for LADS, approval of RD grant-in-aid for Pungro and Sitimi blocks etc as well as new induction of DPDB members such as District TB Officer, District Malaria Officer were the resolutions passed in the meeting.
