The Kiphire GBs Association held a silent procession on February 27 protesting against the incident that took place earlier on February 8 at Pungro town where 7 (seven) of a family were massacred including the village chief of Zanger village. The GBs marched to the office of the Deputy Commissioner and submitted a 6 (six) point charter of demand calling for the immediate arrest of the DBs of Pungro town and termination from the government service. It also wanted the sanction of VGs to be withdrawn immediately. Further, all the culprits must be arrested at the earliest and booked according to their crime committed, they stated.
As per the GBs Federation of Nagaland Resolution no-4 the Kiphire District GBs reiterated its stand that the crime is/are non-bailable. Further it demanded that the sanction of VDB including government facilities for Pungro area be kept in abeyance till the situation is normal.
The GBs described the SDO (C) HQ of Pungro town as a place of lawlessness place and demanded that the state government take appropriate measures.
The Kiphire GBs Association demanded that the charter be fulfilled and delivered before March 14. The association said that they will not be blamed in occurrence of any situation if the government failed to comply to their charter of demand within the deadline fixed.
