Kiphire, August 22 (MExN): MY Bharat-Kiphire under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, in collaboration with Akheda Amulung Kiphire, organised district-level competitions under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan 2026 (Drug-Free Campaign) at Agape Higher Secondary School here on August 22.
The programme was attended by Col Rajiv Sharma, Commandant, 30 Assam Rifles, as the special guest.
The programme began with a leadership session by Tronglise Sangtam of Akheda Amulung, followed by a welcome address by Kishore Dulam, District Youth Officer, MY Bharat-Kiphire.
Dulam highlighted the importance of building a drug-free society and said creating a drug-free environment should be a priority. He expressed concern over the availability of drugs at low prices in interior areas, which he said could contribute to other social problems, including extortion.

Sharma urged the youth to say no to drugs under all circumstances and called upon people to support those struggling with addiction.
He said overcoming addiction required a strong and determined mind and encouraged individuals to challenge themselves and take positive steps towards a drug-free life.
Major Shikha Satsangi (Retd) also addressed the gathering and conducted a career guidance session on opportunities for women in the Armed Forces. She explained the examination and training process and, sharing from her experience in the Armed Forces, encouraged parents to support their daughters who wish to pursue careers in the Armed Forces.
She also urged parents not to be apprehensive about sending their daughters for such opportunities.
The district-level competitions included reel making and short film, painting, dance, music and rap, slam poetry, Nukkad Natak (street play), slogan writing and debate. The competitions provided young participants a platform to express their creativity and spread the message of a drug-free society.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Longtili C Sangtam, founder of Akheda Amulung. He expressed gratitude to the special guest and his wife, Kishore Dulam, Agape Higher Secondary School, judges, participants, teachers, volunteers and students for their support.
The event concluded with a message that every individual has a role to play in creating a drug-free society. The programme aimed to inspire young people to make positive choices, stand against drug abuse and encourage others to overcome addiction.
