
Dimapur, Dec 22 (MExN): Parliamentary Secretary for Land Resource, Kipili Sangtam, made a fervent appeal to all to join the fight against further spread of HIV/AIDS and also called for resolutions.
He made this appeal at the inaugural of Kiphire District People Network of Positive People office recently. Kipili said the opening of this office for people living with HIV/AIDS had become a necessity as the district has been included in the list of high prevalence districts in Nagaland. Addressing the gathering, Kipili urged churches, political leaders, village chiefs and all concerned to make resolutions to fight the further spread of HIV/AIDS in the district. All youth of the district should also feel a sense of individual responsibility in combating the dreaded epidemic, the Parliamentary Secretary also reminded the younger lot. He appealed to the youths to turn to God and maintain proper personal behavior to combat the disease. “God can do miracles but we have to maintained proper behavior”, Sangtam said reminding that Kiphire district has also been marked as one of the highest prevalence districts in the state.
David Khing, Director of Kuknalim Foundation was the guest of honor at the function which was chaired by Coordinator of KDNP Yangsatpila. Susan, popularly known as the ‘Nightingale of Kiphire’ treated the gathering to a special song as well. Senior Police officials, district administrations, public leaders, village chiefs and a throng of well wishers attended the function. NNP+ president, Naomi and KDNP+ District Networking Officer, Hokishe also spoke at the occasion.
