Dimapur, August 4 (MExN): The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju along with team central team will visit flood and landslides affected areas of Nagaland on August 5. The team will include officials from National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). According to a PIB release, the team will visit the flood and landslides affected areas of Dimapur and Kohima and review the search, rescue and relief measures taken by the State Government and other Central Government agencies. Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, State Chief Secretary and other senior officers of the State administration will accompany Rijiju. During the current season, various parts of the state are reported to have been affected by heavy rains and rain oriented calamities including landslides at various places and a team of NDRF consisting of 35 rescuers with essential rescue equipment is already deployed in Nagaland, the release said The team will assist the State administration in the relief and rescue operation as well as distribution of essential relief material and to provide medical support to affected people at the time of emergency, it added. Two Air Force helicopters have also been deployed in Nagaland for assisting State administration in lifting and dropping of essential commodities.
