Medziphema, March 8 (MExN): KVK Phek, ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Medziphema organised Kisan Gosthi cum exhibition under Natural Farming at KVK Phek premises, Porba on March 7.
Vizol Kera, Branch Manager, NStCB Pfutsero said that Phek district is blessed with naturally fertile soil for cultivating any crop, stated a press release received here. Kera encouraged the farmers to take up farming activities wholeheartedly so that regular income can be generated. He mentioned that natural farming has been practiced since time immemorial and has benefitted the farming community as the produce is natural and organic.
He also elaborated about different financial packages available for the farmers. Farmer’s Scientist interaction programme and exhibition cum demonstration of Jeevamrit and Beejamrit was conducted.
The welcome address and brief introduction viz principles and components of Natural Farming was delivered by Dr T Esther Longkumer, Senior Scientist & Head. Dr Hannah K Asangla, ACTO-Agronomy spoke on the zero tillage in field pea cultivation. Keniseto Chucha, Farm Manager, elaborated on botanical remedies from plant material under natural control. Dr T Esther Longkumer explained about soil and water conservation method in Natural Farming.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Er Nukusa T Vadeo, TO (Computer). Altogether, 113 participants including government officials participated in the programme.
