Peren, May 27 (MExN): ATMA Peren district conducted Kisan Mela at ATMA Project Director & District Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Office in Jalukie, Peren on May 23.
As per the DIPR report, Deputy Commissioner Peren & Chairman, Governing Board, Vineet Kumar, IAS in his speech stated that everyone is rooted through agriculture even though they may be in different status in the society. He said that it was time to hear the voice of the expert who knows how ecological imbalance of present scenario can be corrected by observing certain patterns in the cropping system. The DC Peren stated that to enhance production, there is the need for a well-planned farming system, relying on the advice of the technical expert. He advised the farmers to share their success and failures to the extension worker so that corrective measures can be drawn.
The Project Director ATMA & DFO, C Dory Yanthan in her welcome note expressed appreciation to the DC Peren who is also the chairman of the ATMA Governing Board. She stated that his constant guidance and cooperation ensured huge encouragement to the Agri & Allied departments to knit together for one cause. She added that it has enabled the ATMA functionaries and farmer community in the district to go ahead thus far.Other highlights of the programme included release of ATMA Peren district magazine titled “ATMA Activities at a Glimpse” by the DC Peren, distribution of seed money Rs 10,000 each to four Self Help Groups and four Food Security Groups.
Technical session included visual demonstration on soil testing with the aid of Mobile Van by the Department of Soil Conservation Office by Rokovikho Nakhro, DSCO. James Kikon, ACTO, KVK deliberated on the importance of vermicompost as a living soil amendment and C Dory Yanthan, emphasized on the importance of high quality fingerlings. Importance and preparation of Bijamrita, Bordeaux mixture, Mushroom Oyster cultivation and Neem leaf extract to control insect pest were presented by ATMA team.
Other attractions of the programme included distribution of fingerlings by the Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Department, organic granules, vermin bags, farming tool, seeds and implements by Soil & Water Conservation Department and Kisan Vigyan Kendra (KVK). Vote of thanks was delivered by Lhaihoichong Singson, BTM Ahthibung Block. The programme was chaired by Deputy Project Director ATMA, Tonikali Achumi.
Heads of offices and officers from Agri & Allied departments attended the program. Altogether, more than 100 farmers from different farming backgrounds and blocks, ATMA farmer friends, Farm School teachers, SHGs and more than 20 different Agri-Allied departments attended the program.
The ATMA Peren district organised this farmer’s fair with an objective to reach out the farming community - and to transfer recent technology knowledge, disseminating farm information, to open an opportunity to link with the Agri & allied departmental experts and scientist from KVK.
