DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 28 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN led by N Kitovi Zhimomi hosted a felicitation ceremony at 5th Mile, Chumukedima to honor Hokato Sema, who recently won a bronze medal in the Men’s shot put F57 category at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games. The event was organized by President RM Lotha and Ato Kilonser N. Kitovi Zhimomi.
The ceremony celebrated Sema’s inspirational journey and his remarkable achievement, which has brought pride not only to the Indian nation but particularly to the Nagas of Nagaland. Ato Kilonser Zhimomi praised Sema for his exceptional contribution, drawing parallels to the legacy of Dr. Tali Ao, who captained the Indian football team in the London 1948 Olympics. He noted that it took 75 years for another Naga athlete to achieve international success, with Sema’s victory symbolizing hope and inspiration for the younger generation.
Zhimomi emphasized the importance of providing proper infrastructure and facilities for youth in Nagaland to nurture more talent like Sema and Ao. He expressed optimism that with the right support from the state government, more athletes would emerge to compete on national and international stages.
