KLCT donates pick-up truck to women’s group in Khonoma

Kohima, October 5 (MExN): The Kalpaka Lakshmi Charitable Trust (KLCT), an NGO based in Chennai, as a part of its philanthropic acts donated a pick-up truck to the Khonoma Women’s Organic Co-Operative Society  (KWOCS) with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 4. 

According to a press release, the funds for the truck was brought through Neelam Dutta, Managing Director, Pabhoi Greens Pvt. Limited, a farmhouse in Assam which he has developed into a diary, nursery and bio-research over the years.

The KWOCS, comprising of twelve women, was set up to encourage farming and to promote agri-sustainable lifestyle initiated by Dutta, himself, it said. 

In the ceremony, Dutta, who has a long association with the village, expressed his hope that the truck will prove to a source of help in meeting the needs of the farmers in the transportation of their goods, it added/ 

He shared his hope that the younger folk would take up farming more seriously since the region has so much untapped potential, and that there is a huge market. 

As per its website, the KLCT began in 2015 with their main objectives which are helping the needy students, improving environment, reviving dying arts and crafts among others.
