Dimapur, April 12 (MExN): The Kulolau Lazami Küqhakulu (KLK), Dimapur, organised its first-ever career guidance and counselling programme for Lazami youths at Hotel Saramati here on Saturday.
Around 50 participants attended the event, which was sponsored by the family of Yevihe Swunetho.
The programme brought together speakers from diverse professional backgrounds, including Viqheshe S Futhena, Block Development Officer (BDO), RD Department; Lutovi Phucho, Assistant Drugs Controller, Dimapur Zone; Himato Kappo, Territory Manager, HarperCollins Publishers Pvt. Ltd.; and entrepreneur Lovi Achumi, Proprietor of Tsuipu Food Products.
Phucho highlighted the scope of higher studies and various academic streams available to youths.
Futhena emphasised the importance of consistency and discipline in achieving success, sharing practical tips for competitive exam preparation and discussing challenges faced by aspirants. He also underscored the role of sacrifice, perseverance, and a strong foundation in faith and prayer in one's journey toward success.
Kitoho Michael Swu, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO), Pughoboto, and Advisor to KLK, called upon youths to actively engage in farming, stressing that agriculture has evolved into a viable, technology-driven business opportunity offering pathways to self-employment and economic independence.
Noting the high demand for food in Nagaland and the existing supply deficit, Swu stressed the importance of farming for food security. He also encouraged youths to explore organic farming, value addition, and online marketing, describing modern farming as a sustainable and profitable enterprise connecting identity, culture, and livelihood.
He further highlighted the significance of Integrated Farming Systems (IFS), which promote sustainable agriculture through the integration of crops, livestock, and allied activities, maximising resource efficiency and environmental sustainability.
Kappo elaborated on emerging opportunities in the corporate sector, highlighting its role in economic growth, employment generation, innovation, and social development.
Achumi delivered an inspiring session on entrepreneurship and self-reliance, encouraging youths to explore business ventures and transition from job seekers to job creators.
